　　1、for the love of God

　　An oath of shock, exasperation, annoyance, frustration, or anger.

　　一种咒骂，出于震惊、恼怒、烦恼、挫折或愤怒。“看在上帝的份上”，是不是很熟悉(˃᷄ꇴ˂᷅ ૂ๑)，译制片里常常能听到哦!

　　e.g. For the love of God, I didn't even see that car coming!

　　我的老天，我压根儿没看到那辆车来了!

　　e.g. Would you let me finish my story, for the love of God?

　　你能让我完成我的报道吗，看在上帝的份上?

　　e.g. Oh for the love of God, I just had the car fixed and now you’ve put a dent in it!

　　哦看在上帝的份上，我才把车修好，而现在你就在上面撞了一个坑!

　　2、love me, love my dog

　　If you love someone, you should accept everything and everyone that the person loves.

　　如果你爱一个人，你就要接受那个人所爱的所有事物和所有人。也就是我们说的“爱屋及乌”啦~

　　A: I wish you’d keep your dog out of the house when I come over.

　　A：我希望在我过来的时候你能把你的狗放在屋子外。

　　B: Love me, love my dog.

　　B：爱我，就要爱我的狗。(爱屋及乌)

　　e.g. Most of Alice's friends didn’t like her sister, but they accepted her because Alice insisted, "Love me, love my dog.”

　　Alice的朋友大部分都不喜欢她的妹妹，但是因为Alice坚持“爱屋及乌”，所以他们都接受了她。

　　3、love begets love

　　If you behave lovingly to other people, they will behave lovingly to you.

　　如果你亲切地对待他人，他们也会亲切地对待你。“投桃报李”

　　Child: I hate Tammy! She’s always mean to me.

　　孩子：我讨厌Tammy!她总是对我很不好。

　　Father: If you're nicer to her, maybe she'll change her ways. Love begets love.

　　父亲：如果你再对她好一点，也许她会改变她对你的方式。爱由爱生。

　　4、tough love

　　a method of helping someone to change their behaviour by treating them in a very severe way

　　是通过一种非常苛刻的方式对待他人，以帮助他们改变行为方式的手段。“严厉的爱”

　　e.g. Learning from mistakes in Egypt, it should use tough love to encourage better governance.

　　吸取埃及的教训，应该用严厉的爱来鼓励更好的管理方式。

　　5、lord love a duck!

　　My goodness! (An exclamation of surprise.)

　　我的天哪!(惊讶的感叹)

　　e.g. Lord love a duck! How that rain is coming down!

　　我的天哪!怎么就下雨了!

　　e.g. Lord love a duck! Did you see that cat chasing that dog?

　　我的天哪!你看到那只猫在追那条狗了吗!

　　6、for love or money

　　Under any circumstances. Usually used in negative sentences

　　在任何情况下。通常用在消极的句子里。“出于爱或金钱”

　　e.g. I would not do that for love or money.

　　无论怎样我都不会这样做的。

　　7、love-hate relationship

　　a relationship of any kind that involves both devotion and hatred.

　　任何一种同时包含奉献和憎恨的关系。“爱恨交加的关系”

　　e.g. Since then, I have a love-hate relationship with her.

　　那从以后，我对她爱恨交加。

　　e.g. Most people admit to having a love-hate relationship with the TV.

　　大多数人承认他们对电视是又爱又恨。

　　8、head over heels in love (with someone)

　　very much in love with someone.

　　对一个人有很深沉的爱。“沉溺于爱河之中”

　　e.g. John is head over heels in love with Mary.

　　John深深爱着Mary。

　　e.g. They are head over heels in love with each other.

　　他们深爱着彼此。

　　9、love-tooth in the head

　　A constant need or yearning for love.

　　对爱的持续需要或渴望

　　A: "Stacey always seems to have a boyfriend.”

　　A：“Stacey似乎总是有男朋友。”

　　B: "I know, she really has a love-tooth in the head!"

　　B：“我知道，她真的是一个恋爱依存者。”

　　10、puppy love

　　mild infatuation; infatuation as in a crush. (Used especially of adolescent relationships.)

　　轻微的迷恋;一时冲动的迷恋。(特别是用来形容青春期的关系。)

　　e.g. Is it really love or just puppy love?

　　那是真爱还是只是一时的冲动?

　　e.g. Look at them together. It may be puppy love, but it looks wonderful.
